Walter Henry's Bookshop

We are an independent bookshop who have been trading through thick and thin for 20 years in a lovely original fronted Victorian shop on Bideford High Street. We sell books, toys, jigsaws, including Gibsons jigsaws for adults, and a wide selection of cards, postcards and stationery such as diaries, calendars and notelets. Our large local section has local history, maps and guides for the area and all the Ordnance Survey maps for Devon and Cornwall. We also have a large fiction/crime section with a recommended and bestseller area and all the usual popular categories such as biography, history, travel, sport, natural history, cookery etc. Our children’s section covers everything from the first years with board books and picture books, right up to teenagers with young adult fiction and non-fiction reference books. At the back of the shop we have a dedicated toy section with games, jigsaws, animals, wooden toys and pocket money items. We stock lots of well known brands such as Orchard Toys, Galt, Schleich figures, Hama Beads, Djeco craft, Siku cars etc. We also have comfy bean bags, a very old and much loved rocking horse and a blackboard wall for your scribbles. Our main asset is our knowledgeable, friendly staff who are always happy to advise and recommend and our ordering service is next day for most titles so come and say hello and have a browse.
