Retail businesses invited to harness digital tech to improve operations and sales

8 April, 2019

Retail businesses across Devon and Somerset are being invited to a workshop to help them improve their digital capability and boost their business prospects. As traditional town centre footfall continues to change and evolve there is an ever increasing argument to harness digital technologies to complement traditional "bricks and mortar" businesses. This also extends to back office operations in how they might manage everything from stock control, accounts, to customer relations with a little help from technology.

The event is being promoted by the South West Growth Hub and Torridge District Council and will be held at Bideford Town Hall on Thursday 25th April from 6-9pm.

The workshop has been designed to help retail businesses to:

  • Understand the digital technology options available to support retail businesses
  • Learn about the benefits of integrating digital business systems such as CRM, Accounting, stock control and EPOS (as well as what these all mean!)
  • Understand multi-channel retailing options
  • Review the pros and cons of various 3rd party online market places.

Those attending may also be eligible to access a face to face follow up meeting with a qualified Business Adviser to help them further with this or another business topic to assist their business development.

There is no charge to attend, but booking is essential and places are limited to one delegate per business. Attending businesses must also operate from a retail shop or other physical retail location.

Torridge District Council Economic Development Officer - Chris Fuller said:

"Digital technology is an important tool for any business in today's market place but some traditional businesses may not be sure how best to harness this for their own situation. This workshop is designed to help businesses get an understanding of what is available and how they can integrate this into their own plans. Whether you are a digital tech novice or already experienced there should be something for everyone at this event."
