Welcome to Bideford, the Little White Town!

Strolling along, clotted cream ice cream in hand, with the sun shining down on the beautiful River Torridge. The Little White Town, with its historic town centre, the Old Bridge dating back to 1286 (with all sorts of stories about why each arch is a different size!) and some great shops and places to eat makes for a great place to visit.

From the heritage trail (Bideford was one of the last towns to stop killing witches!) to festivals, from award winning shops to the excellent Burton at Bideford art gallery and museum, there's something for every taste.

Our year round festivals really do bring buzz to the beautiful town, from cardboard boats navigating the River Torridge to thousands of motorbikes meeting up at our historic quay to raise funds for charitable causes, from 1000s of runners ready to brave the popular races through to the spectacle of New Year in Bideford, nationally renowned as an amazing way to welcome in another year.

Our cycle tracks will take you to picturesque villages and historic towns, while our coastal path which leads off from the town will take you off to stunning Appledore and then the fantastic sandy beach at Westward Ho! where extreme sport enthusiasts from around the world meet.

So whether you want to kick back and relax, do a bit of shopping, have some great food or just a coffee, or even want to push yourself to the limit, there really is something for everyone in our wonderful town.
