Tarka the Otter statue

Who would of thought, a meeting on a cold miserable February day, could turn out so well, with just one random idea? Tonia Quance of Businesses of Bideford (B.O.B) thought how wonderful it would be to have our very own bronze Tarka in Bideford. After much fund raising, and with the help of many people and organisations, and sculpted by Rowan Fawdon of Ash Tree Pottery, Tarka was positioned in 2017.

Tarka the Otter, the main character of Henry Williamson's book of the same name, he has inspired the name of many areas within town including our long distance footpath and cycle path, the Tarka Trail.
