All change at the Bideford Pannier Market with New Trader opportunities and Event space for hire

Bideford, North Devon 22nd January 2020 – The Bideford Pannier Market Hall has undergone a great change offering the opportunity to new trader applications as well as Event and Club space for hire.

This enables the Hall to be used on the other days for arranged specialist markets, Events whether externally or internally organised and individuals, clubs or organisations to use, day or night.  (The Kenwith Company of Archers have used the facility, in the evenings, for over twenty years!)

The beautiful Victorian building has so much to offer including toilets, disabled access, baby changing, free wi-fi and a café – it really is the perfect venue for new traders, events and space hire. In addition, The Bideford Town Council recently installed automatic glass doors that have enhanced the visitor and trader experience at the historic covered Pannier Market Hall, by flooding the area with light, making it more comfortable and warmer.  The dynamic effect has been such that it presents a new promise for the building.

These are exciting times for the Market.  January 2020 saw the Hall closed for a deep clean and minor maintenance schedule that has refreshed the Victorian building.  The adjacent Butcher’s Row too has had a touch of spruce! Applications have been submitted for the installation of solar panelling.  The Council has stated their intention by investing in and developing the potential of the market, so it becomes the jewel in Bideford’s Crown.

The Market Hall is now a blank canvas.  Traders are invited to join our journey and apply to trade with us.  There is a strong Arts and Crafts vein running through the Complex, but we are open to the more and less traditional trader!  Approaches are also invited for those that need a space. Whether a club or fitness/dance/yoga leader to host their activity.  Also, anyone wishing to hire the Hall for a larger event, please do contact us.

Councillor Jamie McKenzie, the Chairman of the Market Management Committee, declared that “In developing its Markets, specialist markets, Events and local, community opportunities, the Bideford Pannier Market will become the premier visitor destination and shopping experience for the Town.”

He added, “a vibrant attraction that affords a warm welcome will be of benefit to the whole community.”

Please note that there has been no change to the Old Butchers’ Row and Market Place Shops they remain open throughout the week.
